No More Fake News: Twitter Says It Will Label Misleading Or Harmful Coronavirus Tweets

Twitter said on Monday that it is going to put labels and warning messages on some tweets that contain disputed or unverified tweets related to Covid-19 even it is from political leaders.

Starting from today, it will use labels and warning messages “to give further clarifications or explanation in circumstances where the risks of harm related with a Tweet are less severe yet where people may still be confused or misled by the content.”

Yoel Roth, Twitter’s head of site integrity, said on a call with reporters that the mission is not to “fact-check the entire Internet,” but instead to constrain the spread of harmful tweets. He said only those messages that “directly pose a risk to someone’s health or well-being” will be pulled off Twitter.
